No hidden costs
The quote you get is the price you’ll pay.
The estimate covers all consultations (before and after surgery), pre-surgical preparation, surgical fee, hospital costs, specialist anaesthetist, high-quality Mentor implants and post-operative garments and care.
We only perform surgeries at hospitals that are fully-accredited. We also only partner with experienced specialist anaesthetists, who help you feel safe, confident and valued.
Better pre-op and post-op care
Changing the shape of your life is about so much more than the surgery.
At Re. we believe the preparation for the surgery, and the care you receive after the surgery is as important as the procedure itself.
Breast Augmentation recovery
After your breast augmentation surgery, you will wake up in the recovery bay and your breasts will feel swollen but comfortable. You will be wearing your post-surgical bra for optimal healing and settling of the implants. Most patients stay in the hospital for about 2-3 hours after waking up.
The first few days may be a little uncomfortable but will be controlled with pain medication. If your work is not too strenuous you may be able to return in the next few days. It is ok to shower and get your dressings wet and you can sleep in any position that is comfortable. You will also have your first post-surgery review appointment at Re.
You can begin to ease back into light physical activities. Most women are comfortable enough to start driving.
You should now be back to your normal daily routines and enjoying your new shape. Normal post-operative bruising and swelling should be gone, and your scars will begin to fade and diminish. You are able to fully resume normal exercise.
8 and 12 Weeks
Scar laser treatments.
The little extras that give you a better outcome
From preparation to the surgery to extra care after the operation, the Plastic Surgeons at Re. take care to make sure they do the little things right, to help your body look better, heal better, and recover faster.
- Your scar will be kept as short as possible and positioned in the fold under your breast.
- For extra confidence, we will give you an intravenous antibiotic which will be given at the time of anaesthetic induction.
- We take meticulous care in the creation of the implant pocket with particular attention to avoiding any bleeding.
- Minimal skin-implant contact and handling.
- Change of surgical gloves prior to handling the breast implants.
- Washout of the implant pocket with either an antibiotic solution or an antiseptic to minimise infection and capsule formation.
- No drains.
Your questions answered
We are, by law, not allowed to answer that question.
The Australian Medical Association and the Royal Australian College of Surgeons do not allow any surgeon to make claims like this.
The better question is, “how do I choose the best breast surgeon for me?” Breast augmentation is a personal decision and one you should make based on your needs and the way you like to be cared for.
If you are worried about your choice of surgeon, or you are looking for the best breast surgeon for you, please ask for referrals from your GP, or meet with a couple of surgeons to get an idea of how you’ll feel dealing with them.
For your peace of mind, you should only deal with a Plastic Surgeon not a cosmetic surgeon. Plastic surgeons will have the letters FRACS (Plas.) after their name.
The Best Plastic Surgeons will also have links to peak industry bodies and will be happy to refer to work they have done in the past.
Breast enhancement covers a range of procedures which change the shape or size of your breasts.
A breast augmentation is one of the many types of enhancement you can get and the name most Plastic Surgeons will use for the specific procedure designed to increase the size of your breasts.
Breast enhancement can also cover procedures like breast lifts and breast reshaping and may or may not include the use of breast implants.
Breast augmentation is breast enlargement, and will use breast implants to boost the size of your breasts.
Both Richard and Kim are very-highly respected and recognised for their experience and expertise.
They are two of Melbourne’s leading Plastic Surgeons and have over 25 years’ combined experience, complemented by specialist training, in breast augmentation surgery.
Richard has been the Chairman of the National Board of Plastic Surgery training and Kim is currently on the council of the Australian Society of Plastic surgery (ASPS) Council.
Both are fellows of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons ASPS and the Australasian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ASAPS). They are also Fellows of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons, the only body recognised in Australia to train plastic surgeons.
Both understand your desire to get the best breast augmentation result you can, and they will work with you to help you get the breasts you desire.
While there is no way of knowing who the best breast surgeon in Australia is, there are a number of things which distinguish the leading plastic surgeons.
They will have the letters FRACS(PLas.) after their name. This signifies they are a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of surgeons and have undertaken specialist training and shown great skill in plastic surgery.
They will most probably use specialist technology to help you see what your breasts will look like after surgery. The surgeons at Re. use the latest 3D mapping technology (Vectra 3D), and a highly recommended interactive consulting software, Touch MD, to help you see what your body will look like after the operation.
The best breast surgeons will have a clear idea of the sort of breasts that will suit your body shape and will be able to help you make the best decision for you, helping you understand the difference between the types of implants available and the implants which will give you the best breasts possible for you and your lifestyle.
Melbourne’s best breast surgeons will also use the best facilities in Melbourne, accredited hospitals with highly qualified anaesthetists and staff who will care for you as much as our surgeons will.
Leading Plastic Surgeons also understand that the procedure itself isn’t the end of the story. At Re., for example, we include all post-operative care and recovery, including scar reduction therapy, as part of your overall cost.
Remember, the best plastic surgeon for you is a very personal choice.
We recommend having an obligation-free chat with a couple of surgeons before deciding who you’ll choose.
While there will always be cheaper and more expensive options, we recommend you carefully consider everything you get and how you feel when you visit the consulting rooms.
Leading breast surgeons will be qualified plastic surgeons. (Both of Re.’s leading breast surgeons are qualified and accredited with leading plastic surgery bodies.)
They will be able to help you understand what you get, and how much it will cost. (At Re., the price you’re quoted is the price you pay. There will be no nasty surprises after your recovery.)
Top class breast augmentation surgeons use top-quality implants. (At Re., we use Mentor implants which are widely recognised as the world’s leading breast implant.)
The best breast surgery practices will help you feel confident at every stage, from the initial consultation to the specialist support garments they supply.
Richard Bloom and Kim Taylor both have a proven expertise in breast augmentation and breast enhancement surgery and know exactly where to place the implant to get the best result for you.
They use top quality technology, including the latest 3D modelling software, to show you what your breasts will look like. Different body shapes suit different breast sizes and shapes. Richard and Kim will use their vast experience to help you understand what size and shape breasts will best suit your body. It is important to note, while Richard and Kim will provide the best possible advice for you and your body type, the final decision is up to you. If you believe the perfect breast surgery for you is for a larger or smaller breast than they recommend, they will help that become a reality for you. It’s an exciting decision. We just want it to be perfect for you.
It’s a good question and worth asking of any plastic surgeon.
There is only a tiny chance of complications during surgery. As you’d expect from leading surgery professionals, our Plastic Surgeons adhere to absolute best practice in everything we do and can take you through any possibility if it makes you feel more confident about the procedure.
You’ll be in the hands of one of Melbourne’s most respected plastic surgeons, someone who has performed hundreds of breast augmentation and breast enhancement procedures and has the experience and expertise to handle any emergency.
Your Re. Plastic Surgeon will only use high-quality Mentor implants, recognised by the industry as a leading brand and known for the highest safety standards available.
Should you experience any discomfort after the operation, your Re. surgeon will be available to answer your questions and help you feel like you are in the best possible hands.
There are Plastic Surgeons, “Cosmetic” Surgeons (doctors) and General Surgeons.
You will be most interested in the first two.
While the term “Plastic Surgeon” may seem unappealing, these are exceptionally-highly trained, highly skilled people who are aware of every single aspect of every cosmetic procedure, what needs to happen, what may occur, how a procedure should be managed and what needs to happen to provide the best possible result and leave the minimal possible post-surgical stress.
Only a qualified Plastic Surgeon can call themselves a Plastic Surgeon.
“Cosmetic” surgeons do not have any formal surgical training or have the qualifications to conduct the procedure. They are less accredited and do not have the extensive training required to be a Plastic Surgeon. Look for the reference FRACS (Plas.) after their name.
At Re., you will only be seen by a Plastic Surgeon for surgical procedures.
There are always cheaper options.
There are other operations, and other operators who will promise you larger breasts or flatter tummies.
But they don’t always give you confidence.
There are cheaper implants, cheaper hospitals, less qualified surgeons.
Unfortunately, there is usually a reason why they’re cheaper.
And, while there are even cheaper options overseas, we have fixed enough botched holiday makeovers to know, when it comes to something as important as your body, you can often see where the savings went.
There are cheaper options for your surgery, overseas and around Australia.
Some people will talk as if you can combine a surgery with a holiday. We urge you to seriously consider the implications and your needs after a surgery.
In many instances, the complications can arise because of the incorrect care after the surgery has been completed.
Here’s a checklist for you to consider before you commit to any breast or body surgery:
• Is the doctor a fully qualified Plastic Surgeon? Look for the qualifications FRACS (Plas) after their name.
• Have you and the surgeon discussed what size and shape breast best suits your body shape?
• Has the surgeon shown you what your result will look like?
• Have you seen before and after photographs of the surgeon’s work?
• Does the facility where you are having your surgery meet strict Australian health and hospital standards?
• Is your anaesthetist fully trained?
• Has your surgeon told you which breast implants they will use?
• Will your surgeon be available to discuss any concerns you have after the operation?
• Who will look after you if something goes wrong or if you have a problem once you go home?
• Have you investigated the costs of having a problem fixed?
• Are you comparing apples with apples? Have you been quoted the total costs of having the procedure? This should include:
• All pre-surgical consultations
• Preparation for the surgery itself
• Cost of implants (for breast augmentation procedures)
• What the procedure involves (for example, in a Tummy Tuck, are they tightening the muscle walls or simply removing tissue?)
• The cost of the hospital – is it, in fact, a registered hospital?
• The cost of the anaesthetist (and how qualified they are)
• The cost of the procedure itself
• Post-surgical recovery and an aftercare promise
• Specialised post-operative garments
• Consultations after the surgery
• Scar reduction therapy
• Consultations to address any concerns
At Re. we try and meet your expectations. We’ll also talk to you about what size breast best suits your body shape.
The first thing your surgeon will discuss with you is your breast goals. Do you want a natural shape, round appearance or subtle increase? A breast enlargement or a breast enhancement. Then your surgeon will examine your breast and chest dimensions and present a number of options.
At Re. we then use the latest 3D simulation software to give you an accurate guide as to what your implants will look like on your own photos, which you will also be able to access after your consultation.
Finally, we will show you what the size implant actually looks like and you get to try it on under your clothes.
Firstly, we’ll look at how much soft tissue and breast tissue you naturally have, particularly in your upper pole. Then, we take into consideration the size of implant you have chosen. Finally, we discuss your personal preference and lifestyle activities. Based on all of this we will recommend the best placement for you.
There is no one perfect implant, just the perfect implant for each individual patient. Your choice will depend on your body type, the final look you’re after and your existing breast tissue. We will work with you to find the implant that is best for you.
Yes. If this is your goal, we will work with you to ensure your breasts look as natural as possible.
Modern implants can last many years and may never need to be replaced. Forget what you’ve heard about implants needing to be replaced at 10 years. At Re. we only use Mentor breast implants. We believe, because of their commitment to safety, feel and shape, as well as their record of excellence in the industry, these are the highest quality implants available.
Yes. To get the best results and aid recovery, you’ll need to wear garments that support and hold your breasts in place and help reduce swelling and discomfort. At Re. we supply two specially designed post-operative bras (they’re supportive and look so much nicer than many other post-operative garments). Generally, you should wear the post op surgical bra for 6 weeks after your surgery.
At Re. we have developed a scar management protocol to ensure you get the best possible outcome. We use silicone tape and gel and complement these with two laser scar treatments. This is all included in your surgical package.
Yes, you can. Your surgeon will use special dressings which stick well to the skin and will keep your wound dry and promote healing. If you find, after a few days, the dressing is starting to lift at the edges (this is normal) and you would feel more confident with a fresh dressing, please call us and we’ll change your dressing as soon as possible.
After breast surgery you can sleep in whatever position you find most comfortable. Your breasts will feel slightly uncomfortable for two to three days after the surgery. This can usually be well-handled with normal painkillers.
It really depends what sort of work you do. If your work is largely office based, you can often return within a week. If your job is more physical, you may need a couple of weeks.
We’ll get you back to the gym as soon as possible. We have worked with a personal trainer to develop a physical program which starts a week after your surgery. This graduated program will keep you moving and help with your recovery. Your first consultation with our partner Personal Trainer is free as part of your surgical package. You should expect to return to all your normal activities by six weeks.
Yes, most women can still breastfeed after breast surgery. It is important to understand, up to 40% of women are unable to breast feed, even without a breast augmentation.
Your skin will stretch just like it would prior to surgery. Your breast tissue will expand as well. The big unknown is how much the skin will shrink back down and how much firmness will leave the breast tissue as a result of the pregnancy. This will vary from person to person and will depend on whether you’ve had a child already or if it will be your first child. However, if there was a need to re-address the shape of your breasts after pregnancy, this can most likely be addressed with a revision.
In most cases, you will have scars in the crease between the underside of your breasts in the natural fold. This is best practice and in line with the best breast augmentation procedures. At Re., we use silicone tape to ensure the best recovery possible and we provide scar reduction therapy as part of the quoted price.
If you are over 40 years old and have not had a mammogram within the last year, we would recommend having one prior to your surgery. The reason for this is, after your surgery there will be internal scarring which will take some time to settle down. This can make interpretation of a mammogram difficult for a period of time, so it is important to ensure before your surgery that your breasts are clear.
